We were excited to partner with a community organisation, the Native Forest Restoration Trust. Everything about this kaupapa is special. The Native Forest Restoration Trust owns and manages over 8,000 hectares of New Zealand’s finest wild places. Dedicated to protecting Aotearoa’s native forests and wetlands, one of their reserves, Pātui, received national recognition when a fundraising campaign was launched in 2022. To honor the contributions and support of the many donors, the Native Forest Restoration Trust needed a way to showcase the progress made in Pātui. The objective was to create a video that would not only highlight the beauty of the land but also demonstrate the tangible results of the restoration efforts through planting. The Trust wanted to share this story with contributors to show the impact of their support and to inspire continued engagement.
Our Approach
Our team at Strategy Collective eagerly accepted the opportunity to document the transformation of Pātui. Located 22km east of Stratford, Pātui encompasses 361 hectares of native forest. We planned video and photography to capture the essence of this special whēnua and the incredible restoration work done by the Trust. Collaborating closely with the Native Forest Restoration Trust to understand their vision and objectives. Our team were lucky to spend a couple of days at Pātui, capturing the lush landscapes, native flora and fauna, and the dedicated efforts of volunteers and staff.
The final video and photography collection vividly illustrated the transformation of Pātui. The video was shared with contributors and the wider community, highlighting the significant progress made in the restoration of this native forest. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with many contributors expressing their pride and satisfaction in seeing the tangible results of their support. The video served as a powerful tool to attract new donors and volunteers, ensuring the ongoing success of the restoration initiatives.
